パブロ·ピカソの「青の時代」とは、1901年から1904年にかけての作品を定義します。この時期、彼は基本的に単色の絵を描いて、青と青緑の色合いを使用し、温かみのある他の色はたまにしか使いませんでした。このスタイルに着想を受け、私は「ピカソのコート」と名付けたアート作品を編むことに決めました。

制限の存在は、つくり手の興味を大いにかき立て、ユニークな芸術作品を制作することにつながると信じています。制限があることで、私はよりクリエイティブになることができ、そして障害を乗り越えて素晴らしい解決方法を見出すことができるようになります。

私のアイディアは、円形のコートを編むことです。パターンももう頭の中で考えました。中央の部分はかぎ針編みし、その後にシンプルなレースの模様を使い、最後は引き返し編みで終わります。袖についてはまだ考えている最中です。

この実験をより面白いものにするために、そして私に制約を与えるために、私は世界中のニッターの方のサポートをお願いしたいと思います。ピカソがしたように、私も青と青緑 (シアン)の色合いの毛糸だけを使用します。毛糸の材質や太さに関わらず、それぞれ10mだけを使います。

ピカソのコートのアートプロジェクトに参加してくださる方へのお願いは以下です：

• 皆さんの一番好きな青や青緑の毛糸からぴったり10mを送って下さい。私の住所はこちらにあります。
• 材質はウールやコットンなど、天然素材の毛糸をより希望しています。アクリルが入る場合、変わり毛糸の装飾部分に使われているようなタイプだとありがたいです。モヘア、レース、ウール、リボン、アルパカに加え、その他の面白い毛糸をお送りいただければうれしいです。
• お送りいただいた10mずつの毛糸は、私の横浜の自宅に到着した順番に使います。
• 使用するすべての毛糸の記録を取っておきたいので、できれば毛糸のラベル（またはそのコピー）も一緒に送って下さい。
• いまのところ、コートを編むのにすべての毛糸に同じサイズの針を用いて編むつもりでいます。

「ピカソのコート」のプロジェクトの進行状況はブログにアップします。作品が編み終わったら、編み図も作り、ブログから無料でダウンロードできるようにします。完成した「ピカソコート」や写真を使い、私は、東京のぺちゃくちゃないとでプレゼンテーションを行いたいと思っています。

The ‘Blue Period’ defines the works of Pablo Picasso between 1901 and 1904 when he painted essentially monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green, only occasionally warmed by other colors. This idea inspired me to knitted art project, what I call the ‘Picasso’s Coat’.

I also believe that limits can be very inspiring to create unique pieces of art. Limits help me to become more creative, overcome hurdles and fine unique solutions. 

My idea is to knit a circle shaped coat. The pattern I already designed in my head. The center I plan to crochet, then use a simple lace pattern and finish with a round of short row knitting. The sleeves I am not sure yet.

To make this exercise more interesting and give me some limitations, I want to ask knitters from around the world to support me. I will only use yarn in shades of blue and blue-green (cyan), like Picasso did. From each yarn I will only use 10m, regardless of material and thickness.

If you like to be part of this art wear project:

• To send me 10m of their favorite blue or blue-green yarn. Just 10m, – not more not less. My address label.
• Any plant of animal fiber is fine. Acryl only in effect yarns please.
• It can be mohair, lace, wool, ribbons, alpaca or any other interesting yarn you have.
• I will use each piece of yarn in order of their arrival here at my place in Yokohama.
• If possible, please include a label (or copy) of the yarn, so I can keep a record about each yarn used.
• The piece will be knitted using the same size needle. (at least, that’s my current idea)
• The progress of the ‘Picasso’s Coat’ I post on my blog.

Once the piece is completed, I will write the instructions, as a free download. With the finished piece and pictures, I will then give a presentation at a PechaKucha Night here in Tokyo.

Picasso’s Mantel: Die blaue Periode von Picasso war von 1901 bis 1904. Während dieser Zeit malte er nur mit Blau- und blau grün Tönen. Das hat mich für ein vielleicht interessantes Strickstück inspiriert. Dafür brauche ich aber Eure Hilfe.

Ich werde eine runden Mantel stricken. Um die Sache etwas interessanter zu machen, werde ich nur Garne in den Farben blau und blau-grün ( cyan, petrol) verwenden. Und von jedem Garn jeweils nur 10m.

Wer bei dem Projekt gerne mitmachen möchte:

• Daher bitte ich Stricker und Strickerinnen um die Welt mir 10m ihrer liebesten blauen oder blau-grünen Wolle zu schicken. Hier ein Addressen Etikett.
• Am liebsten wären mir Pflanzen- oder Tierfasern, also Wolle, Baumwolle, Mohair, Alpaca, Leinen etc. Acryl vielleicht als Beimischung oder Effektgarn.
• Ich werde jede Wolle in der Reihenfolge einstricken, wie sie hier bei mir in Yokohama ankommen.
• Bitte ein Etikett von der Wolle beilegen. Dann kann ich auf meinem Blog auflisten, welche Garne verstrickt wurden.
• Zur Zeit plane ich, den Mantel mit den selben Nadeln zu stricken. Ist also egal ob es ein dünnes Mohair oder dickere Wolle ist.

Wenn ich den Mantel fertig gestrickt habe, würde ich die Anleitung schreiben und auf meinem Blog veröffentlichen. Mit den Fotos dann plane ich eine Präsentation bei PechaKucha hier in Tokyo.
Wer also Spass an der Idee hat, bitte schickt mir 10m blaues oder blau-grünes Garn. Dürfte ein interessantes Projekt werden.
