Bernd uses traditional lace knitting and patterns in an intersection between interior architecture, sculpture, and lighting design. His focus is to extend the tradition of lace knitting with new and contemporary applications. He likes to present the beauty of lace patterns to a wider audience, than a conventional application in clothing can.
The process Bernd developed allows him to control pattern, structure, shape, size and transparency. Each lace light is individually designed, hand knitted and sculptured – with breathtaking results.
