Picasso’s Coat finished – ピカソのコート出来ました

Picasso_coat_final01aLast night I finished my ‘Picasso’s Coat’. Thank you everyone, who helped making this possible. I will bring the coat to The Japan Hobby Show next week.

Kunststricken 2.0 – Triangular Shawl

niebling_dreieckstuch04aDuring summer I started on a triangular shawl. Now finally it got finished. The pattern is a part of a table cloth designed by Herbert Niebling. I arranged the leaf pattern to be used for a triangular shawl.  The shawl is knitted with white cotton yarn on 3.5mm needles.

Knickerbockers meets Noro – ニッカーボッカー@Noro

kniebund_socks02aYesterday I finished my extra long 246 spiralsocks. I have a pair of Knickerbockers, so I thought I knit myself a pair of socks to go with them. The yarn are 2 balls of Noro’s “Kureon Socks Yarn”. Knitted on 3mm needles.

Picasso’s Coat: sleeves are growing

Little by little the sleeves of my Picasso’s Coat are getting longer. Now I need to make a drawing to determine the increases.

Kunststricken 2.0: Jumbo Doily – ジャンボドイリー

Jumbo_doily01aThe other day I got some very thick yarn. After some thinking, I decided to use it for a German lace doily. I used an old pattern from Erich Engeln and knitted it exactly as charted 70 years ago, just with 5 times bigger needles (10mm). It turned out really nice. Now I am using it as a small rug in front of my rocking chair.Jumbo_doily02a

Picasso’s Coat – modeled

With both sleeves started I can now model the Picasso’s Coat for the first time.

The ‘Blue Period’ defines the works of Pablo Picasso between 1901 and 1904, when he painted essentially monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green, only occasionally warmed by other colors. This was the inspiration for an art knit project what I call the ‘Picasso’s Coat’. I am knitting a circle shaped coat using only yarns in shades of blue and blue-green, like Picasso did. From each yarn I am only using 10m, regardless of material and thickness. If you like to be part of this project please send me 10 meters of your favorite blue or blue-green yarn.
