Framed knitting

Framed Knitting

For some time I had an empty frame and always wanted to knit something into it. Finally I got the idea.

I used an cotton and silk yarn, dyed with traditional Japanese aizome. With 10mm needles I knitted a flat piece, just large enough to fill the frame.

From the old canvas I removed the linen and painted the remaining frame white. Through some holes I drilled into the corner of the frame I pushed 3mm brass pipes. Onto those I hooked the outer stitches of the knitting.

For the background I choose a Japanese handmade paper (washi).
